We are happy to report that the mother of the Minister of Finance, Professor Kamene Okonjo is finally from her abductors den and is safely at the Obi's Palace in Ogwashi-Ukwu with her family now. Reports confirm that she was released in the early hours of Friday by her captors five days after her kidnap.
However, the Police could not yet confirm how and where she was released as they are still trying to piece together information about her release. There is also no information yet about whether any ransom was eventually paid to secure her release, as security operatives had missed a 24-hour ultimatum given to them by the kidnappers to pay her ransom.
We are happy to know that the old woman is in good health and her family are excited about her release.
We extend our well-wishes to the Okonjo family as they welcome their mother back home.
