A few hours after the late Governor of Kaduna, Patrick Yakowa, dies in an air crash, his vice, the Deputy-Governor of Kaduna, Alhaji Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, is to replace him as the new Governor. A source in Kaduna State made it known that Yero is expected to be sworn in on Sunday morning, December 16, 2012.
Security arraignments and protocol are being mapped to ensure a peaceful succession ceremony in line with the 1999 constitution.
Mukhtar Yero was born on May 1, 1969 in Anguwan Kaura, Zaria Local Government. He is a close ally of Vice-President Namadi Sambo. He joined Nalado Nigeria Limited, Kaduna, a company owned by Sambo, in 1997, and rose to become the Director of Finance and Administration. He became Commissioner of Finance when Sambo was elected governor in 2007 and was chosen deputy governor to Yakowa in 2010.
