Since
the introduction of Blackberry phones in Nigeria, Nigerians especially the
youths have gone gaga and our lifestyles have changed. The Nigerian movie ‘Blackberry
Babes’ gives an insight into the Blackberry madness in Nigeria. In fact, these
days, if you do not have a Blackberry PIN, you are not considered as someone
who is in vogue.
We are not against Blackberry phones.
Our position is that the phones are being abused, despite the fact that the full potentials of the phones are not being explored and utilised. People have forgotten or do not even know that these phones are business phones and can be used for more productive endeavours.

While we agree that all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, it
must not be forgotten too that all play and no work makes Jack a dumb boy. Blackberry phones (and other smart phones) should not replace personal
interaction and communication and relationships. We would do better if these
phones function as aids and not replacements of the important things in life.
These
phones can better be used, among other uses, as organizers, to search for and
find information, to send important mails and messages, to facilitate meetings,
to network for business and politics, and to publicise causes.
KontriPipu abeg let's stop this craze.
